The Surf Scoter, aptly named after the oceanic duck, is a powered outrigger perfect for efficient commuting and cruising alike. The goal is to use as few resources as necessary to go as far and fast as possible. Designed by Paul Bieker and Russell Brown, the boat is sleek and streamlined. CNC-cut plywood and fir layered with fiberglass makes for a light and stiff platform. Cruising at 16 knots at no more than two gallons per hour, the range is upwards of 128 nautical miles with current fuel capacity. Keep an eye out for this little outrigger as its small wake points the way toward more efficient boating in the future.
