Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival 2024

Ever wondered how a sailboat sails against the wind? In this presentation we'll explore the relationship between sails, wings, the force of lift, and their many applications on the wind and in the water. We'll cover the basic physics of how foils generate lift, and how we harness that force for our benefit. We'll also go over how to loft a foil section for a rudder or centerboard on the shop floor.
