Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival 2024

Decisions, decisions when you know you're not finished sailing. This talk--part travelogue, part boat tips, and mostly mindsets--is inspired by four different summer's international voyages in the Baltic and North Seas with my Swedish circumnavigating friend, Silvija (now 78) on the 46' boat she and husband Egon (now deceased) built in the 1970s. In each of our four summers sailing together, the itinerary, crews, goals, and challenges were different. As a woman in the WBF audience told me last year, "It's not just about modifying the boat. It's about modifying ourselves."
